Objectivos

There are more individuals living with HIV infection in Portugal. The need of access to treatment and delivery’ continuity places a challenge both to the health system as for the patient, while adherence is a critical factor in the success of therapeutic.

The ATAR-VIH study - Prevalence and determinants of patient adherence to ART and regimen modification, in a portuguese cohort of HIV-infected adults - aims to:

1. Determine the prevalence of patient non-adherence to ART, as a result of non-acceptance, poor compliance and short persistence
2. Study and model potential determinants of medication adherence dynamic
3. Evaluate ART modifications, the identification of its associated factors, and its impact in patient adherence
4. Evaluate and model multidirectional relations between adherence and rate of progression of HIV/AIDS infection
5. Propose and evaluate the effectiveness a multi-level interventional program focused on the modifiable determinants of non-adherence previously identified
